What are Drones? Drones are also called an "unmanned aerial vehicle" (UAV),and it is commonly known as a drone or International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) calls it Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) , it is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard really. While airborne it is controlled either autonomously by onboard computers or by using remote control of a pilot while on the ground.
They are first used for military and special operations, but now there are growing number of civil applications, such as policing and firefighting, and nonmilitary security work, such as surveillance.
Now a lot people using remote control drones as a toy or a hobby. One example of remote control drones is the Parrot AR.Drone, it is a radio controlled flying quadcopter helicopter built by the French company Parrot. This drone is actually designed to be controlled by mobile phones or tablet operating systems such as the supported iOS or Android apps or the unofficial software available for Windows Phone, Samsung BADA and Symbian devices.
One of my favorite Drones are the DJI Phantom it is made by DJI Innovations which produces commercial and recreational UAVs. All of UAVs developed by DJI are micro air vehicles (MAV)s for aerial survey / surveillance roles. With it's relative ease of use and affordability, DJI UAVs are also popular amongst aerial photographers for aerial photography and videography. There are many examples of aerial videos filmed with DJI UAVs available on the net.
